Porsche coming to the iRacing Online Racing Simulator
iRacing officially announced that they have reached an agreement with Porsche A.G bringing some of the prestigious German sportscars to their online racing simulator.
For allot of us this news does not come as a surprise. When last year the exclusive Electronic Arts Porsche agreement came to an end, Kunos Simulazioni was the first developer to partner up with Porsche and announced its now mega-popular Assetto Corsa Porsche pack DLC’s. Soon after, in an interview with Sebastian Hornung who is the Manager Branded Entertainment at Porsche AG, it became clear that the Kunos Simulazioni deal was not an exclusive one.
Sebastian officially stated that from now on, Porsche would provide other racing Game/Simulation developers the opportunity to license their car models. Soon after, both Turn10 Studios (Forza Horizon 3) and Slightly Mad Studios ( Project CARS) teased official future Porsche content for their respective titles.
Back in October iRacing already announced a partnership with the Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari. Many community members started to speculate that this might also lead to a Porsche Licence in the near future.
Now iRacing has officially confirmed that the Porsche brand will become part of the iRacing vehicle content portfolio. In an announcement video, they confirmed that the first model to appear will be the popular Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer. Even better so, the GT3 Cup should be available as soon as January 2017.
Furthermore, they also hinted that there will be more Porsche models licensed as the video also teases the Le Mans-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid.
We will keep you posted when iRacing reveals more info regarding this awesome announcement.
