Jaguar XJR-9

In July 1987, the Jaguar racing department started the build of the XJR-9 sports-prototype racing car. The Chassis was designed by Tony Southgate while the engine design was the work of Allan Scott. The car was ready for testing in October of the same year with the aim to compete in both the FIA Group C and IMSA Camel GTP championships

The Castrol sponsored XJR-9 debuted at the 1988 24 Hours of Daytona and managed to clinch the overall win with Jan Lammers, Martin Brundle, Raul Boesel, and John Nielsen behind the wheel. During the remaining IMSA Camel GTP season, the XJR-9 took one more win, leaving them third in the constructor’s championship. Only two XJR-9s were specifically built to IMSA-specifications.

In the 1988 FIA World Sports Prototype Championship, the Silk Cut sponsored XJR-9 took six victories with one of them being the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Jan Lammers, Andy Wallace, and John Dumfries as drivers. The same year, Jaguar won the Teams Championship and Jaguar driver Martin Brundle won the 199 Drivers title.

The Jaguar XJR-9 was powered by a 60-degree 7.0-litre V12 engine based on the production 5.3-litre engine as used in the Jaguar XJS road car. The engine produced 750 bhp / 560 KW at 7,200 rpm.

Project CARS 2 the ‘ultimate driver journey’ will become available late 2017 for the PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam OS. On the consoles, PCars 2 will go head to head with upcoming heavyweights such as Forza Motorsport 7 and Gran Turismo Sport.
