The Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 DTM was a fierce competitor in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) series during the mid-1990s.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter V6 engine, that was renowned for its high-revving capabilities and impressive power output, the car achieved great success in the DTM series, with drivers like Nicola Larini and Alessandro Nannini securing numerous victories and podium finishes.

Avus:

Closed in the late 1990s, The Avus was a unique street circuit located in Berlin, Germany. It was renowned for its long, straight sections and high-speed nature, making it a thrilling venue for motorsport events. The most defining characteristic of the Avus was its long, straight sections, which allowed for incredibly high speeds.

To contrast the straights, the circuit featured two sharp hairpin turns at either end, which required precise driving skills and often resulted in dramatic overtaking maneuvers. In its early years, the northern turn featured a steep banking, adding to the challenge and excitement of racing on the circuit.

The circuit hosted various motorsport events, including the German Grand Prix, sports car races, and motorcycle races.

Diepholz Airfield Circuit

The Diepholz Airfield Circuit was a temporary motor racing circuit located in Diepholz, Germany. It was primarily used during the 1970s and 1980s, serving as a venue for various touring car championships, most notably the German Touring Car Championship (DTM).

The circuit was created by utilizing the runway and surrounding areas of the Diepholz Airfield. This meant that the track’s configuration could change slightly from year to year.   The runway itself provided long, straight sections, allowing for high-speed racing. To contrast the straights, the circuit featured a series of technical corners that required precise driving skills.

Diepholz Airfield Circuit was a regular stop on the DTM calendar for many years but also hosted other touring car series and occasional sports car events.

Classic Hockenheim Ring

The classic 4.574 kilometers (2.84 miles) 17-corner Hockenheimring was known for its long, high-speed straights and sweeping corners, making it a thrilling venue for Formula One races. The circuit was significantly different from its modern configuration, with a longer layout and fewer corners.

The long straights and high-speed corners such as the notorious Ostkurve: A high-speed right-hand turn at the end of the long start/finish straight, Südkurve: A fast left-hand turn leading onto the long back straight, and Nordkurve: Another high-speed right-hand turn at the end of the back straight made the classic Hockenheimring a challenging circuit for drivers, requiring a combination of speed, precision, and bravery. The layout often favored cars with strong power and top speed.
