RaceRoom vs Assetto Corsa Nordschleife – by ISR

John Sabol from Inside Sim Racing presents another head to head video. This time, John takes a look at the recently released RaceRoom Nordschleife track and compares it to Assetto Corsa’s version who have just updated their iteration of the track.

Both Kunos Simulazioni and Sector3 Studios have created their Nordschleife virtual versions of the track with the aid of laser scanning technology resulting is a very accurate representation of the real world venue. Laser-scanning technology provides sub-centimeter accuracy for all surfaces from tracks to building facades and therefore, making both versions very alike.

But there is more to it then just track accuracy. Textures, lighting, color palettes, shading, and more will define the final look and feel of the creations. In the included side by side video, John talks about all these subtle differences and tries to point out the strong and weak parts in both versions.

Only a few years ago, who would have ever guessed that we would end up with four laser-scanned versions of the Ring available. Forza Motorsport 6, iRacing, Assetto Corsa and now RaceRoom.  It has to be said that these are fabulous times for sim racing Nordschleife enthusiasts.
