rFactor 2 – Formula E Energize Pack Officially Announced

Almost a year ago, rFactor 2 was the platform of choice for the Road to Vegas Challenge, organized by Cloud Sport, in which 10 gamers/sim racers had the chance to race against the 20 Formula E drivers in the Virtual $200,000 Visa Vegas e-Race.

Back then, the virtual car models and Vegas track used in the eSport competition were not exactly a great example of the visual eye-candy we have become used to in modern racing simulators. Now STUDIO 397 is getting ready to make things right.

Back in July, it already became clear that there would be some licensed Formula E content coming to rFactor 2 and STUDIO 397 hinted that the content will include all the cars, teams and drivers of the upcoming 2018 season.

Today STUDIO 397 officially announced the Formula E Energize Pack will be coming to rFactor 2. Furthermore, STUDIO 397 stated that to ensure the best possible representation of the world’s leading fully-electric racing series, the development team worked closely with the FIA Formula E organization and their technical partners.

The first Formula E series track revealed is the Hong Kong Central Harbourfront Circuit which in the real world will be the opener of the new 2017/2018 Formula E season. This 1.8 km street-circuit snakes through Hong Kong’s central harbourfront with the iconic city skyline in the backdrop.

With the announcement, STUDIO 397 also included an introduction video which shows us a few snippets of the upcoming rFactor 2 content. And let’s be honest… It looks very promising. As far as we know, STUDIO 397 did not yet announce an official release date, but with the new 2017/2018 Formula E season kicking off on December the 2nd, we expect to see the content available rather sooner than later. (Edit: It is confirmed that the release is scheduled for next week. No pricing is available yet.)
