rFactor 2 – Marcel Offermans – Racing into the future!

April 12th, 2018, Studio 397’s Managing Director Marcel Offermans took the stage at the 4th annual Luminis DevCon at CineMec Ede in the Netherlands for an interesting rFactor 2 related presentation.

During the presentation, Marcel reflects on the history of the original rFactor title and explains how the Luminis company got involved in developing the rFactor 2 racing simulation. Marcel also homes in on the more technical aspects of the rFactor 2 development cycle, talking about the complex software architecture needed for real-time simulations and high-quality 3D graphics.

rFactor 2 is a realistic, easily extendable racing simulation from Studio 397. Marcel Offermans is the Managing Director at Studio 397 and is a Software architect with a broad experience in different operating systems, languages and applications and a strong focus on component-based service-oriented architectures. Marcel is a member of the Apache Software Foundation and a regular speaker at conferences, including ApacheCon, EclipseCon, JavaOne, OSGi DevCon, Devoxx, and NLJUG.
