Richard Burns Rally Oculus Rift DK2 test
This is the latest video by Betta Lines from his “Through the Lens” Series of tests using the Oculus Rift DK2. In this episode, Betta Lines fires up the old, but brilliant Richard Burns Rally.
Because of its age, it is obvious that RBR does not support the oculus rift hardware. But that could not hold back Kegetys. When he recently got a hold of the Oculus Rift DK2, he decided to try to make Richard Burns Rally work with it using a Direct3D “proxy” DLL. After some rewriting he got it working quite nicely and provided the mod for all to enjoy.
It supports:
- Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 (DK2 preferred)
- Full head-tracking support, including positional tracking
- Stereo rendering with correct IPD
- Virtual 3D HUD
- Virtual menus
This VR mod does not work with direct-to-rift mode. The DK2 needs to be in extended mode.
Download here, you will need RBR version 1.02 with SSE executable.
