Introduced in 2011 and released in 2012 the rSeat Formula Basic Cockpit surprised the Sim Racing world with a radical new design as far as simulator cockpits go. rSeat designed this high end-cockpit to deliver the ultimate driving experience for single-seater  simulation fans out there. You do not really sit in it, but as in a real open wheeler you will be laying down while driving. This seating position adds a lot of immersion when using the Rig.

So to take the design and functionality a step further rSeat have now equipped the Formula RS with the D-BOX ™  4250i motion actuators kit located on a special rSeat adaptor Frame made of cnc laser cutted carbon steel to hold the actuators.  This kit includes 4 actuators with 3 axes of motion to simulate the roll, pitch and vibrations when you are driving the Simulator. Another new and interesting feature is the fully electrical adjustment of the pedals and the seat. . ( Check out the video on the bottom of this article)

The Seat and pedals can be moved horizontally to extend or contract the distance between them. interestingly they both can be moved independently from each other making it possible to adjust the seating position to almost any type of body proportion. With this system the rig can be perfectly be adjusted for the arm and leg length of any type of user. You control the electric motors by using 4 buttons placed conveniently on the right side of the chassis.

In comparison to a regular Simulation cockpit, where you would be sitting upright, the Formula RS has you laying down, putting your weight and mass in the seat. This will also generate a much more detailed feedback of the tactile and motions systems used. The Buttkicker becomes a Backkicker, so to speak, having a larger feedback area in contact with your back instead of just your lower body. This will ultimately result in a higher detailed feel, when it comes to experiencing the movement and motion immersion.

The regular rSeat Formula is retailed for €987 exl. VAT. This is very reasonable considering the build quality and exclusive design features. The RS M4A D-BOX 4250i version on the other hand, is not really intended for your average Sim Racer enthusiast. The rig will set you back a whopping € 13.125 exl. VAT.  That is the price of a band new small car.  Lets start filing out those lottery tickets….
