Sim Racing Garage – Sam Maxwell Customs F1 Wheel Review
Barry Rowland of Sim Racing Garage has been testing the new Sam Maxwell Customs F1 Wheel. Barry shows us the wheel and explains its features and functions in detail. The first thing that grabs your attention are the wooden grips on the wheel. The body is made out of a high quality grade of plastic, decorated with a front and rear carbon fiber plate.
The F1 rim is fitted with two digital paddle shifters and a set of analog clutch paddles. The analog paddles can also be set up individually as a break or throttle. This feature could be a very nice solution for disabled people who have no use of their legs or feet and need analog devices on the wheel itself.
On the electronic side the wheel is fitted with an SIMR F1 Display. The USB lead to connect the display can be plugged into the build in USB socket on the back of the wheel. The unit features 10 high quality push buttons, 8 rubber coated rotary dials and three single push switches. To give us a view of the wheel in action, Barry fits it on his high-end Bodnar wheel and takes to the track in the iRacing Indycar. Barry states that this is the best F1 wheel styled rim he has used to date.
