Laurence Dusoswa reviews the new Simagic Q1 Sequential Shifter.
At the beginning of 2020, the Chinese Simagic company introduced two direct drive wheel systems in the form of the Simagic M10 and Simagic Alpha units. The M10 is delivering 10 Nm torque and is marketed as an entree-level DD unit, while the 15 Nm Alpha model is aimed at the professional market and more demanding Sim Racing enthusiasts.
However, Simagic did not limit its product range to DD wheelbases. Recently they introduced the Simagic Q1-P Sequential Shifter. At first glance, this seems to be a quality-build, well-packaged, and compact sequential shifter unit.
However, at the time of writing, it was difficult to find detailed information regarding the product.
The full aluminum unit is powered by a planetary gear set, inspired by a real car mechanism. The shifter housing features a digital display, which functions as a gear indicator. Furthermore, the shifter is equipped with 3 assignable pushbuttons and a 4th button for resetting the gear indicator. The shift lever is capped with a sturdy 120 mm gear knob. Simagic can also supply an optional 74mm version.
The Q1-P is connected to a PC via one of two USB ports located on each side of the shifter. Keep in mind that the shifter is PC exclusive and is not compatible with either the Xbox or PlayStation consoles.
I will keep you posted when new user reviews hit the web.
