The Simpit – Ricmotech Momo Wheel Mod For Direct Drive Wheels
Shaun Cole of the Simpit reviews the Ricmotech Momo Wheel Mod For Direct Drive Wheels.
Direct Drive wheels are getting more popular by the day, but can still take a large bite out of your budget. Most of the current direct drive wheels also come with or need a rather expensive wheel rim, adding to the cost. This is what inspired Ricmotech to come up with a cheaper solution. Ricmotech created a Momo Wheel Mod using parts of the standard Thrustmaster GTE wheel and a MOMO suede wheel rim.
The kit includes a genuine Momo MOD31 suede wheel machined to fit around the lightweight GTE wheel buttons and custom electronics are fitted to output a USB signal via a coiled cable. The paddles are machined from a fiberglass composite so they can be larger, but remain light and responsive. The Momo MOD31 wheel is made from lightweight hardened aluminum for strength which transfers all nudges and vibrations cleanly and without distortion to the driver’s hands.
The paddles are created with a 2-piece design so the paddles can be made with a thick fiberglass material while the mounting brackets are made from a thinner and harder aluminum to attach properly to the internal mechanism. The wheel is a genuine Momo MOD31, available in two diameters, wrapped in with a genuine suede grip for the ultimate competition feel.
