Slightly Mad Studios presents Red Bull Air Race – The Game
Slightly Mad Studios is branching out. After the release of the beautiful Project Cars, and the announcement of the follow-up “Project CARS 2” development, the British game studio announced they are working on yet another racing game that will be published by Wing Racers Sports Games LLC.
This time the action won’t take place on the track but in the air. The new title is based upon the dangerous world of the world’s fastest motorsport series. The Red Bull Air Race World Championship.
Air races are basically a time trial where pilots race their purpose built light-weight propeller racing planes by means of trying to set a time flying through a series of 25 meter high obstacles and pylons following a low-level aerial track. During the race, pilots can be fined with penalty seconds for flying errors such as not keeping the correct altitude or not passing through the pylons at the correct angle.
Game publisher, Wing Racers Sports Games LLC explained that the game will be featuring the actual real world locations, planes and pilots of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Slightly Mad Studios already hinted that they will be trying to make the game closer to a simulator than an arcade style racing game.
While no real details about the game are known, the trailer shows us that the level of graphical fidelity is most likely going to be on par with the Project CARS title. The video trailer starts with a scene showing an Audi R8 straight out of Project CARS racing on the tarmac of the Red Bull Air Race airstrip, indicating that Slightly Mad Studios will be using their Madness game engine to produce some stunning visuals.
“We have been working stealthily for many months on this action-packed title – and we can’t wait to show everybody the first scenes of the game,” said Jens Ott, managing director of Wing Racers Sports Games. “Stay tuned: over the next weeks and months we are going to share many more details and features of Red Bull Air Race – The Game.”
Red Bull Air Race World Championship – The Game will be exclusively released on PC somewhere during 2016.
