The Nordschleife – iRacing Vs Assetto Corsa

The last few months we have tried to cut down on the ” Hey look at me drive” and “comparison” video’s after a good few of the Bsimracing visitors mentioned their lack of interest in such media.

Nevertheless, now and then a comparison video appears that is actually relevant to the current sim racing scene. Digiprost published an interesting video that showcases the iRacing and Assetto Corsa versions of the Nürurgring Nordschleife side by side.

Both tracks are created with the aid of laser scan technology and should represent a one on one copy of the famous track. Digiprost tried to set up a similar video capture to let us see the visual differences between the two popular sim racing platforms. DigiProst is driving the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 that is featured in both the products. To give us the best possible view of the track the camera is mounted on te roof of the car.

The iRacing and Assetto Corsa versions will soon be joined by a third laser scanned iteration of the ring when Sector3’s RaceRoom Racing Experience version of the Nordschleife becomes available.
