The Simpit – Build a DIY Aluminum 80/20 T-slotted profile SimRig
Shaun Cole of “The Simpit” decided it was time to replace his highly functional, but old DIY sim rig. This gave him the perfect opportunity to share his rig building experiences with the community and inspire fellow community members to build their own rig.
The new rig will be made out 80/20’s aluminum T-slotted profiles that are the basic building blocks of any sim racing rig design you can come up with. The aluminum T-slotted profiles with the fasteners and accessories are widely available in hardware stores. They are not exactly cheap, but still very affordable. Once you know your way around the available profiles and brackets, the only limitation of your design will be your own imagination.
Just to give you an idea of the available profiles and accessories, check out the 80/20’s aluminum T-slotted PDF.
On the bottom of this post, you can find the full-length unedited version of the build video. In a couple of days, Shaun will also upload a video showing us how to built a triple screen monitor stand to go along with the new DIY rig. We will keep you posted.
