Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen joins Team Redline
Most of you will undoubtedly know Team Redline as one of the most successful Sim Racing teams in the world. Only a few weeks ago the four-time World Champion sim racing legend Greger Huttu scored his 50th iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series race for Team Redline.
Besides the regular drivers, Team Redline also recruited a selection of real world racing drivers to join in on the virtual side of racing. With a driver line-up such as Richie Stanaway, Nick Catsburg, Kelvin van der Linde and Christian Szymczak to name a few, Team Redline is definitely connected to the real racing world, and are trying their best to promote Sim Racing as a sport and racing training tool.
Now the team added another famous name to their driver line-up. The very talented Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen will join the world’s best-known sim racing team.
Redline said Verstappen will join the team to “practise and remain at the top of his game.”
“I enjoy simracing outside of Formula 1,” said Verstappen, who earlier this week shared a photo of his simracing set-up on Instagram.
“Ive been working with Atze Kerkhof for a while already and of course with Team Redline and Fanatec I’ll be sharing the virtual track with the fastest simracers in the world which is a great test and the way I like it!”
Team manager Atze Kerkhof was equally pleased, “I’m happy and honoured to have Max onboard at Team Redline! Looking forward to continue our sim battles like we did in the F3 last year.”
“It’s great having Max onboard, he was immediately incredibly fast in sim racing a unique natural talent, very proud to have him representing us in the sim racing world.” Said Dom Duhan, Team Redline Principal
Dutch/Belgian Max Verstappen is the son of former F1 driver Jos Verstappen and is the youngest World Championship Grand Prix driver in the history of the sport. After driving a season in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship for Van Amersfoort Racing, (also the team where Atze Kerkhof had a try-out) Max upgraded straight to Formula One driving for the Toro Rosso Team.
