WRC 8 – The FIA World Rally Championship 2019 video game Announced

Two years after the release of WRC 7, Bigben Interactive and the Kylotonn Games Studio have announced that the WRC 8, the official 2019 FIA World Rally Championship game will be coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC/Steam, in September 2019.

The WRC 8 game will feature 50 teams, 14 rallies and more than 100 special stages from the 2019 FIA World Rally Championship season. Together with the announcement, Bigben Interactive posted a first WRC 8 video showcasing the pre-season tests of a Ford Fiesta World Rally Car at Rallye Monte-Carlo and the brand-new Rally Turkey.

It is clear that Kylotonn worked hard on this new iteration of the WRC game franchise introducing brand new off-road physics on all road surfaces, a completely redesigned career mode, and a dynamic weather system.

Kylotonn Games Studio states that the weather system is much more than a visual effect. With the new dynamic weather system rain, snow and hailstorms will have a bigger impact, resulting in a much more true to life simulation. The road grip will change during the race, and in order to grab a good result, cars will need to be tuned specifically for each special stage, tyre choices and stock management need to be considered, and you will have to make proper use of the weather team.

Single player fans will be glad to hear that WRC 8 includes a completely overhauled, more realistic career mode, designed in conjunction with WRC drivers. You will be able to schedule and manage the activity between rallies, perform some research and development to improve the car, and you are in charge of the recruitment and management of your staff. (mechanics, engineers, medical and weather teams, financial director, communication manager, etc.).

WRC 8 also includes a multiplayer mode which will feature weekly challenges and eSports WRC competition events.

While the WRC enjoyed an epic season in 2018, with the destiny of the drivers’ title only being decided on the final morning of the season in Australia, 2019 is already shaping up as another fascinating year. In WRC 8, players will be able to choose their driver from the official teams of the 2019 season marked by the return of Sébastien Ogier (6 times World Champion) from Citroën Racing, accompanied by Esapekka Lappi, while Toyota will try to defend its 2018 manufacturers’ title with Jari-Matti Latvala, Kris Meeke, and Ott Tänak. 2019 is also marked by the return of the nine-time World Champion and WRC legend, Sébastien Loeb, driving this year for Hyundai Motorsport in support of Thierry Neuville, Andreas Mikkelsen, and Dani Sordo. M-Sport Ford will rely on Elfyn Evans and Teemu Suninento draw attention again.

WRC 8 will also offer a selection of WRC 2 and Junior WRC drivers as well as a few historic models to be revealed very shortly. Talent and concentration will be needed to overcome more than 100 special stages taking place in 14 countries. Upgrade your car to unprecedented new levels of detail and develop your team in an in-depth and intense career mode.

A new dynamic weather system has been developed to add random elements to the driving experience, but also to increase realism in the game. Managing the weather is a real challenge for the drivers: modified grip, car settings adjustments, tyre selection optimization, weather team relationship to ensure the best tips and information on the latest conditions. More than mere visual effects, climatic conditions become crucial, especially in the management of your career.

Play as the best drivers in the Championship and experience the competition as if you were there!

WRC 8 will be available in September 2019 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
