Wreckfest 2 Announced

During the 2024 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, Publisher THQ Nordic and Developer Bugbear officially announced Wreckfest 2, the ultimate Destruction Derby Game/Simulator.

After the original title proved that an arcade-type fun racing game could be blended with a sim title featuring realistic physics, this highly anticipated sequel seeks to improve on the already solid game fundamentals.

The development team has worked hard to completely overhaul the physics engine using the updated Bugbear’s ROMU engine, enabling them to take full advantage of modern hardware, and adding even more realism to the spectacular collisions and crashes. To add to the fun, the cars are fully customizable, allowing the player to create a unique wrecking vehicle and share it with fellow players.

Wreckfest 2 features better vehicle handling, higher crash fidelity, a deeper armor and damage system, more intricate component damage simulation, and many more improvements across the board. You can race in intense head-to-head fights on high-speed circuits, face obstacles on crazy courses with jumps, intersections, and oncoming traffic, or go for demolition domination in various derby arenas.

The game features an overhauled career mode and an online mode powered by a new skill-based matchmaking system and server queues. Those who want to enjoy some local fun can try the brand-new split-screen mode.

Wreckfest 2, will become available on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. An official launch date is not yet set.
